First Principles Domestic Central Heating Calculator

The Mear’s Domestic Central Heating Calculator (Metric model No.1 & Imperial Model No.2) were first manufactured many years ago. As improvements in insulation and building materials advanced Mear’s progressively tweaked the Domestic Central Heating Calculator resulting in the current models 14 (Imperial) and 15 (Metric).

The Domestic Central Heating Calculator is simple, quick to use and easily determines the heating requirements for older types of domestic premises and also the sizes of all the equipment needed for the installation. The calculator is in many ways a “must have” for heating engineers and in 1990 the Domestic Central Heating Calculator won the Product of the Year “Tools and Accessories” (Hamerville Magazine).

In 2005 as a result of ever changing building regulations and the decreasing of U values Mear’s had a rethink and rather than introduce models 16 & 17 co-designed, with Dr Alan Smith, a completely new calculator, the “First Principles Domestic Central Heating Calculator” to replace the long serving Domestic Central Heating Calculator

The First Principles Domestic Central Heating Calculator is more accurate than any preceding heating calculator and is in line with heating regulations and requirements. The calibration of the calculator has been based on ‘First Principles’. Such is the flexibility of the First Principles Domestic Central Heating Calculator users will be able to calculate heating requirements for all types of houses and small commercial properties (i.e. shops and small warehouses).

Mear’s is renowned for high quality and the new calculator is no different. Each section is engraved and colour filled by our small team of dedicated workers and when assembled the engraved sections are completely protected. The finish of all our calculators is high quality and each design will give you years of trouble free use. Each calculator is supplied with a comprehensive instruction booklet (including worked examples) and an attractive wallet for safe keeping, ideal for taking onto site.
